We are thrilled to be hosting three authors of incredibly creepy YA books for the Halloween season! Gena Showalter signs the fourth book in her White Rabbit Chronicles, A Mad Zombie Party; Kady Cross, author of the Steampunk Chronicles, signs her standalone novel, Sisters of Blood and Spirit; and we are so pleased to present Amy Lukavics with her debut novel, Daughters Unto Devils. Join these ladies in a Halloween party, complete with costume contest judged by the authors, and pick up something scary to read for Halloween! There will also be candy and light refreshments!
Seating is limited, so we recommend you arrive a little early for the discussion.
Per our usual policy, on the first pass through the signing line, KBB will limit you to the featured title(s) plus two backlist per author to keep the line moving. After everyone has had a chance to get their books signed, customers with more backlist titles can go back through and get the rest of them taken care of.
**For signings, numbers will start being handed out on the day the event is announced, with attendees lining up for the signing in groups of ten. Line numbers are given out with the purchase of one of the featured titles. If you preorder a book, we'll pull a number for you the day you order it.
ABOUT GENA SHOWALTER: Gena Showalter is the New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, the Angels of the Dark, the Lords of the Underworld, and the Otherworld Assassins series. In addition to being a National Reader's Choice and RITA nominee, her romance novels have appeared in Cosmopolitan and Seventeen magazine, and have been translated in multiple languages. She lives in Oklahoma with her family and menagerie of dogs, and truly believes love conquers all.
ABOUT KADY CROSS: Kate began her career as Kathryn Smith, writing best-selling, award-winning historical and paranormal romances. Then, needing a bit of a break from straight historicals, she became Kady Cross, author of The Steampunk Chronicles from Harlequin Teen. This award-winning series led to The Clockwork Agents — steampunk romances for Signet Eclipse under the name Kate Cross. Finally, a new career in Dark Fantasy led to The Immortal Empire series for Orbit, written as Kate Locke.
Regardless of what name she goes by, Kate loves stories that put character first, and enjoys exploring every side of the people she creates — even if it makes them less likeable.
An up-rooted Canadian, Kate lives in Connecticut with her husband, Steve and their pride of cats. When not writing, she enjoys reading, movies, makeup and poking around abandoned asylums.
ABOUT AMY LUKAVICS: Ever since she was little, Amy was especially intrigued by horror books and movies. Raised in a small mountain town in Arizona, she sustained herself on a steady diet of Goosebumps, Fear Street, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books before discovering Stephen King in her mother's bookshelf.
Amy lives with her husband, their two precious squidlings, and an old gentleman cat by the name of Frodo. When she isn't writing, she enjoys cooking, crafting, and playing games across many platforms.
FINE PRINT: The authors' featured book(s) must be purchased from KBB in order for it to be signed. Please hold on to your receipt if purchased ahead of time. Older titles may be brought in as well, and may be signed (with author's permission) along with the new book.
If you are unable to attend, you may purchase your book ahead of time (in person or by phone) and we will have your book signed for you. Please specify if the book is to be picked up or shipped.
The battle rages on.
Ali Bell and Cole Holland's crew of zombie slayers thought they'd won the war against Anima Industries, the evil company responsible for capturing and experimenting on zombies in an effort to discover the secret to immortality. In the last epic clash, the slayers lost many of their crew and closest friends. But Frosty, the ice man himself, has not recovered from one casualty in particular--the love of his life, Kat Parker.
On the path to self-annihilation, Frosty receives a message from beyond--Kat's spirit returns, insisting he partner with rogue slayer Camilla Marks. Frosty will do anything for Kat. Except that. Camilla is the one who betrayed them all, leading to Kat's death.
But when Anima rises from the grave to become a force the slayers may not have the strength to overcome, Frosty, Camilla and all the slayers will have to work together to survive. And one broken slayer will learn that sometimes, the line between hate and attraction is blurred...and the road to redemption isn't through revenge, but in letting go of the past and grabbing hold of the future.
Wren Noble is dead--she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.
Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands--the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn't exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she's not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.
Now the guy who saved Lark's life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins--who should know better than to mess with the dead--may be their only hope of staying alive.
When sixteen-year-old Amanda Verner's family decides to move from their small mountain cabin to the vast prairie, she hopes it is her chance for a fresh start. She can leave behind the memory of the past winter; of her sickly ma giving birth to a baby sister who cries endlessly; of the terrifying visions she saw as her sanity began to slip, the victim of cabin fever; and most of all, the memories of the boy she has been secretly meeting with as a distraction from her pain. The boy whose baby she now carries.
When the Verners arrive at their new home, a large cabin abandoned by its previous owners, they discover the inside covered in blood. And as the days pass, it is obvious to Amanda that something isn't right on the prairie. She's heard stories of lands being tainted by evil, of men losing their minds and killing their families, and there is something strange about the doctor and his son who live in the woods on the edge of the prairie. But with the guilt and shame of her sins weighing on her, Amanda can't be sure if the true evil lies in the land, or deep within her soul.
