A new heart saved her life—but will it help her find out what really happened to its donor?

Seventeen-year-old Leah MacKenzie is heartless. An artificial heart in a backpack is keeping her alive, which will only work for a few years. And with her rare blood type, a transplant isn’t likely. Living like you are dying isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But when a heart becomes available, she’s given an amazing second chance at life. Then Leah discovers who the donor was—a boy from her school—and people are saying he killed himself. Plagued with unsettling dreams since the transplant, Leah realizes she may hold the clues to what really happened.

Matt refuses to believe his twin killed himself. When Leah seeks him out, he learns they are both having similar dreams, and he’s certain it means something important. While unraveling the secrets of his brother’s final moments, Leah and Matt find each other and a love they are terrified to lose. But life and even new hearts don’t come with guarantees. Who knew that living took more courage than dying?

This Heart of Mine is a haunting, poignant tale about living and dying, surviving grief, guilt, and heartache, while discovering love and hope.

James Patterson presents this emotionally resonant novel that shows that while some broken things can't be put back exactly the way they were, they can be repaired and made even stronger.
Kira's Twelve Steps To A Normal Life
1. Accept Grams is gone.
2. Learn to forgive Dad.
3. Steal back ex-boyfriend from best friend...
And somewhere between 1 and 12, realize that when your parent's an alcoholic, there's no such thing as "normal."
When Kira's father enters rehab, she's forced to leave everything behind--her home, her best friends, her boyfriend...everything she loves. Now her father's sober (again) and Kira is returning home, determined to get her life back to normal...exactly as it was before she was sent away.
But is that what Kira really wants?
Life, love, and loss come crashing together in this visceral, heartfelt story by BuzzFeed writer Farrah Penn about a girl who struggles to piece together the shards of her once-normal life before his alcoholism tore it apart.
"Penn creates a realistic character in Kira, one who finely balances the rational thoughts of a child of addiction with the emotional struggles of a high school student. Kira's journey should speak to many teenage readers, even those who do not have firsthand experience with addiction or addicts. ... A smart recommendation for readers looking to escape into a substantive world of personal discovery."—Kirkus, starred review

In this gorgeously written coming-of-age YA novel, debut author Aminah Mae Safi tells a fresh, funny, and real story of angry, messy teenage girls, complex relationships, and bad decisions.

Lulu Saad doesn't need your advice, thank you very much. She's got her three best friends and nothing can stop her from conquering the known world. Sure, for half a minute she thought she’d nearly drowned a cute guy at a party, but he was totally faking it. And fine, yes, she caused a scene during Ramadan. It's all under control. Ish.

Except maybe this time she’s done a little more damage than she realizes. And if Lulu can't find her way out of this mess soon, she'll have to do more than repair friendships, family alliances, and wet clothing. She'll have to go looking for herself.

Debut author Aminah Mae Safi's honest and smart novel is about how easy it can be to hurt those around you even if —especially if—you love them.

The “master of heart-pounding suspense,” New York Times bestseller Phillip Margolin returns with a brand new series.

A woman stumbles onto a dark road in rural Oregon—tortured, battered, and bound. She tells a horrific story about being kidnapped, then tortured, until she finally managed to escape. She was the lucky one—two other women, with similar burns and bruises, were found dead.

The surviving victim identifies the house where she was held captive and the owner, Alex Mason—a prominent local attorney—is arrested. Although he loudly insists upon his innocence, his wife’s statements about his sexual sadism and the physical evidence found at the scene, his summer home, is damning.

Regina Barrister is a legendary criminal defense attorney, known as “The Sorceress” for her courtroom victories. But she’s got a secret, one that threatens her skill, her reputation, and, most of all, her clients. She’s agreed to take on the seemingly impossible task of defending Alex Mason.

Robin Lockwood, a young lawyer and former MMA fighter, has just left a clerkship at the Oregon Supreme Court to work for Regina Barrister. The Alex Mason trial is her first big one, a likely death penalty case, and she’s second chair to Regina. Increasingly, she’s worried her boss’s behavior and the details in the case against their client don’t quite add up.

With surprising twist after twist until the shocking ending, The Third Victim is New York Times bestselling Phillip Margolin at his very best.

I graduated high school in 2012. By the end of my senior year I had become Valedictorian, Class President, Homecoming Prince, Prom King, and voted "Most Likely to Succeed." Was I the smartest kid in school? -No. Was I the most popular student when I was a freshman? -Absolutely not. To be honest, I was just an average student. I was able to achieve all those things by both working hard and being knowledgeable of the system. Hard work can only take you so far: you will still need a strategy. I realized what gave me an advantage over other students was that I knew things they did not. I am not a doctor or expert on education, I am just a student. This allows me to delve into subject matters in which "professionals" lack first-hand experience to venture in and discuss, while keeping it as simple as possible.

Now, you have the opportunity to learn this information, in addition to other "Easter eggs" of wisdom that most students will not learn until it is too late. I have compiled this information into a simplified guide that will assist you in your years to come. I really wanted to write this book not only to offer students cheat codes to high school, but also to express to other students that you do not have to be a genius or necessarily the most popular to be successful in high school.

High school can be rough; however, with proper guidance you can accomplish more than imaginable. In this book, I will include numerous tricks and tips I have learned in efforts to assist you to being successful in high school. By reading this book, it is not guaranteed you will achieve everything that I have; however, if you follow the directions and suggestions provided, while working hard, staying focused, and being consistent, there is no reason why you should not be successful in high school.

Upon retirement, I decided to embark on a journey to uncover the realities that made my mother who she was. My mother is not famous, at least not in the usual sense. Instead, she made inroads for other women, including her three daughters, which resonate to this day as trailblazers. The history surrounding her life is filled with incredible victories on a global scale as well as simply personally. Women were not appreciated as intelligent, able-bodied and purposeful beings except (sometimes!) in the privacy of their homes. Mother knew life for women had to change, and she internalized proclamations from early feminists such as Margaret Sanger who said, "Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be awed by that which has been built up around her; she must reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression."

My book, Hitch Your Wagon to a Star, chronicles a woman's life from the poverty of the 1920's through the years of the Oil Boom, the Great Depression, and an amazing emergence from those years based on the economy's reaction to World War II. It continues into the Post War years of the "Red Scare" and the Baby Boom and culminates with a personal change that engenders a new focus and a second chance at life. Names were not changed and are real. The heart of my book is the truth that possibilities exist and can become realities for those who are sufficiently determined and is based on conquering difficulties in the face of a daunting list of stumbling blocks.

The first exciting novel in a brand-new series from New York Times bestselling author C. C. Hunter!

Her dad’s job is with the dead . . . and he’s bringing his work home with him.

Once again, seventeen-year-old Riley Smith is the new kid in school and her dad’s career has her back to being dubbed a freak. Truth is, she’s a much bigger freak than her classmates think. The only company she keeps these days is the dead who follow Dad home from work. She can see them. She can speak to them. And Fate seems to think she can help them solve their last problems so that they can move on to the other side. Which is odd, because with the loss of her mother and her father’s alcoholism, she’s got enough problems of her own.

But nothing could prepare her for the next tormented young spirit who darkens Riley’s door. The young woman’s death wasn’t the accident everyone believes. Soon Riley finds herself face-to-face with the killer and her only protection comes in the form of another spirit, Hayden, a boy her age with a heart-melting smile and understanding eyes that make her feel safe. If she can escape becoming the killer’s next victim, Riley knows she’ll have to help Hayden move on too, but what if she can’t let him go?

Love What Matters is a 15 week devotional taken over one year covering 1 Corinthians chapter 13. It has turned into a deep study on what love is and how to love in a hurting world where the subject matter is skewed and difficult to grasp. It targets youth as well as young adults, but serves as a good reminder to an older audience as well. I designed the book to have each chapter contain a reading followed by questions centered around personal growth and concluding with challenges to do throughout the week to take that growth one step further and venture outside of your comfort zone to really dive into God's love for others. Each week follows this same format and after 15 weeks the reader will have accomplished many challenges as well as an in depth study of the definition 1 Corinthians gives us on love. The Apostle Paul gives many personal accounts on his journey through 1 Corinthians which are covered in the book alongside my personal accounts.

What does it mean to love like Christ and why isn't it as easy as it sounds? How does a woman or man of God need to live and love in a society over wrought with temptations, stereotypes, desires, and lust? This book was written over a course of 15 weeks with each of the points made in 1 Corinthians chapter 13 in regards to what love really is. The following groups of topics are firsthand accounts and my attempts to test myself by taking one chapter a week and one challenge a day in order to conquer and display a Christ like love to all the relationships around me. If you find yourself questioning the concept of Christian love within a friendship, family relationship, or romantic involvement, then I challenge you to also take a topic per week and be more than a conqueror in Him who gives you strength and apply it to that group or individual. Grab a journal and allow Christ to move in you and through you to show His love in a way you humanly never fathomed!
