NIGHTSHADE
Seven Men.
Each man came back from the war changed, affected in some way. Each man had been trained in skills that they
had no use for at home. Each man had
been discarded from their branch of the service.
Max
Jacobs, a Navy Seal, home to start over after serving his country, not knowing
what he was going to do. Cowboy, a
sniper, formerly with the U.S. Marines.
Legend, Midas, the Kid and Fix all make up the remaining men of the team
led by their Chief, “Old Man”. Seven men
dubbed Discarded Heroes. Each man hand
picked to be part of this special team, called Nightshade.
Sydney
Jacobs was also dealing with the affects of the war. Max was so different, yet he couldn’t see
it. So different, that she made the
nearly impossible decision to seek a divorce.
Her heart said no, but her head and her friends and family said
yes. But deep inside she couldn’t give
up. As a soldier doesn’t give up the
battle, she didn’t give up the hope that they would somehow make it.
Nightshade
operations were undercover. Performing
feats that no one was to know of, saving people’s lives, instead of leaving
them to be a casualty of war. In and
out. Over and done. Until one
mission took Nightshade deep into battle to save a missionary and his
family and then straight to the journalists that were trying to uncover who was
performing these feats. Now through
explosions, harsh conditions and with a pregnant woman, they must get everyone
to safety.
Ronie
Kendig has outdone her debute release, Dead
Reckoning with Nightshades. This
intense story full of action, is also full of emotion and life. Men dealing with issues they hadn’t planned
on. Surprise after surprise and bomb
after bomb set this adventurous trail with the reader racing to the end. I found myself crying and smiling and hated
it when it ended.
But
I have it on good authority that that there are more Discarded Heroes stories
coming. Ronie, I can’t wait!
