Kristin was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Four siblings, a few dogs, rabbits, gerbils, chickens, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, turtles, pigs, and countless other creatures consumed her childhood. On any given day you could always count on at least six people in the house hold at all times if not more due to her grandmother and aunt simultaneously taking up residency. After spending twelve years in a private school, Kristin spent the next four at Texas A&M University obtaining her degree in Theatre and English. She then proceeded to teach Theatre, English, and Bible at the private school she grew up attending and obtained a certificate in teaching and pastoral counseling. Since leaving the teaching profession, Mrs. Rice has been publicized in over ten magazines, featured in three national commercials, numerous local commercials, debuted in many movies and faith based films, modeled with local clothing lines, edited and released a book for an award winning race car driver turned author, and with this study has completed her very own first personalized book. After this book, Kristin intends to continue her passions in writing and ministry as well as fulfilling the aspirations of one day completing an auto-biography.

Love What Matters is a 15 week devotional taken over one year covering 1 Corinthians chapter 13. It has turned into a deep study on what love is and how to love in a hurting world where the subject matter is skewed and difficult to grasp. It targets youth as well as young adults, but serves as a good reminder to an older audience as well. I designed the book to have each chapter contain a reading followed by questions centered around personal growth and concluding with challenges to do throughout the week to take that growth one step further and venture outside of your comfort zone to really dive into God's love for others. Each week follows this same format and after 15 weeks the reader will have accomplished many challenges as well as an in depth study of the definition 1 Corinthians gives us on love. The Apostle Paul gives many personal accounts on his journey through 1 Corinthians which are covered in the book alongside my personal accounts.
What does it mean to love like Christ and why isn't it as easy as it sounds? How does a woman or man of God need to live and love in a society over wrought with temptations, stereotypes, desires, and lust? This book was written over a course of 15 weeks with each of the points made in 1 Corinthians chapter 13 in regards to what love really is. The following groups of topics are firsthand accounts and my attempts to test myself by taking one chapter a week and one challenge a day in order to conquer and display a Christ like love to all the relationships around me. If you find yourself questioning the concept of Christian love within a friendship, family relationship, or romantic involvement, then I challenge you to also take a topic per week and be more than a conqueror in Him who gives you strength and apply it to that group or individual. Grab a journal and allow Christ to move in you and through you to show His love in a way you humanly never fathomed!
